Network

This item is displayed when Menu then Preferences is selected in the Home screen.

Important

  • Administrator privileges are required for displaying/changing some setting items. The printer may need to be restarted for some settings to be applied.

  • Select Wired LAN/Wi-Fi

    Set which of a wired LAN/wireless LAN to use to connect the printer to the network.

    Note

    • Selecting Wired LAN disables any wireless LAN.

  • Wi-Fi Settings

    Connect the printer to a wireless LAN, or make settings for saving energy when connected to a wireless LAN.

    • Select Network

      Select a wireless LAN router (access point) from a list, and enter a network key to connect.

    • Other Connections

      Connect to a wireless LAN other than by selecting a wireless LAN router from a list.

      • Manually Enter Network Name (SSID)

        Enter all wireless LAN router information manually, such as SSID / network key / security setting, to connect.

      • WPS Push Button Mode

        Use the button on a wireless LAN router with WPS Push Button Mode to connect to a wireless LAN.

      • WPS PIN Code Mode

        Register a PIN code generated by the printer to a wireless LAN router with WPS PIN Code Mode to connect. Use a PC, etc. to register the PIN code.

    • Connection Settings

      Set energy saving while connected to a wireless LAN, or check settings information for a wireless LAN.

      • Power Save Mode

        Set whether the printer enters energy saving mode regularly according to the signal sent from the wireless LAN router.

      • Connection Information

        Check the wireless LAN's MAC address and connection information, as well as security settings, etc.

        Note

        • You can also check the wireless LAN's status and error information from Status Monitor > Network Information > Network Connection Method.

  • Direct Connection Settings

    Make settings for Direct Connection and connected functions.

    • Use Direct Connection

      Set whether to use Direct Connection.

    • Direct Connection Termination

      Make settings for automatically ending Direct Connection.

      • Automatically Terminate Session

        Set whether to automatically end Direct Connection.

      • Time Until Session Terminates

        Enter the time from when a connection starts until it ends for automatically ending Direct Connection. If several mobile devices are connected, the connection ends after the time elapses after the last connection started.

    • Access Point Mode Settings

      With the printer's initial settings, each time Direct Connection is used, the printer's SSID and network key are automatically generated in a random string. Making this setting enables you to use a fixed SSID/network key.

      • Use Custom SSID

        Set whether to use a custom SSID. To use one, enter the SSID in half-width alphanumerics.

      • Use Custom Network Key

        Set whether to use a custom network key. To use one, enter the network key in half-width alphanumerics.

    • Keep Enabled If SSID/Ntwk Key Spcfd

      With the printer's initial settings, each time Direct Connection is used, the printer must be placed in standby mode using the operation panel. Enabling this setting when a fixed SSID and network key are set with Access Point Mode Settings allows a mobile device to always connect.

      Important

      • Enabling this disables the Direct Connection Termination setting.

      • If this function is enabled, the printer cannot completely enter sleep mode.

    • Config. IP Address For Direct Conn.

      Set an IP address for Direct Connection.

  • Easy Connection

    Start cableless setup mode. Use cableless setup mode to make network settings using an application.

  • TCP/IP Settings

    Make settings for using the printer on a TCP/IP network.

    • IPv4 Settings

      Make settings for using the printer in an IPv4 environment .

      • IP Address Settings

        Set an IPv4 address either automatically or manually.

        • IP Address Settings

          Make settings for automatically allotting an IP address. Select On to automatically allot, and make settings for the protocol to allot an IP address. To set manually, select Off.

        • Manually Acquire

          To set an IP address manually, set IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway Address.

        • Check Settings

          Check IPv4 address settings.

      • DHCP Option Settings

        Make settings for using a DHCP server in an environment with a DNS (Domain Name System) in place.

        • Acquire Host Name

          Acquire the host name from the DHCP server.

        • DNS Dynamic Update

          A DHCP server automatically updates information for the host name instead of the printer.

        • Acquire DNS Server Address

          Acquire the DNS server address from the DHCP server.

        • Acquire Domain Name

          Acquire the domain name from the DHCP server.

        • Acquire WINS Server Address

          Acquire the WINS server address from the DHCP server.

        • Acquire SMTP Server Address

          Acquire the SMTP server address from the DHCP server.

        • Acquire POP Server Address

          Acquire the POP3 server address from the DHCP server.

      • PING Command

        Run a PING command to check that the printer can connect to networked devices.

    • IPv6 Settings

      Make settings for using the printer in an IPv6 environment . Several IPv6 addresses can be set and used at the same time.

      • Use IPv6

        Set whether to use an IPv6 address.

      • Check IPv6 Settings

        Check IPv6 address settings.

      • Stateless Address Settings

        Set whether to use a stateless address.

      • DHCPv6 Settings

        Set whether to use DHCPv6.

      • DHCP Option Settings

        Makes settings for acquiring the DNS server address and domain name.

    • DNS Settings

      If using the printer in an environment with a DNS (Domain Name System) in place, make DNS settings. Set mDNS (multicast DNS) such as used by Bonjour here as well.

      • IPv4 DNS Server Address Settings

        Set the IP address for an IPv4 DNS server.

      • DNS Host Name/Domain Name Settings

        Set the printer's host name and the domain name that belongs with the DNS server.

      • DNS Dynamic Update Settings

        Set whether to automatically update when the linking of the host name and IP address become changed, such as in a DHCP environment. If automatically updating, you can also set the interval for automatically updating.

      • mDNS Settings

        Set an mDNS to use DNS functionality in a non-DNS environment.

    • WINS Settings

      To use the printer in an environment using both NetBIOS and TCP/IP, set WINS (Windows Internet Name Service).

    • LPD Settings

      Set whether to use an LPD protocol. If using an LPD protocol, you can also set the time until the printer times out after starting a receive standby when reception of print data has been interrupted.

    • RAW Settings

      Set whether to use a RAW protocol. If using a RAW protocol, you can also set the time until the printer times out after starting a receive standby when reception of print data has been interrupted.

    • WSD Settings

      Set whether to use a WSD protocol. This can be set per each function that is to use a WSD protocol.

    • IPP Print Settings

      Set whether to use IPP (Internet Printing Protocol). IPP is used when printing with AirPrint or Mopria. If using IPP, you can also set whether to encrypt communication with TLS.

    • Use HTTP

      Set whether to use HTTP.

    • Use IPSec

      Set whether to use IPSec (IP Security Protocol). IPSec policy, selector, IKE, etc. can be set from a PC using the Remote UI.

    • Network Link Scan Settings

      Set whether to use Network Link Scan. Network Link Scan is used when scanning with AirPrint. If using Network Link Scan, you can also set whether to encrypt communication with TLS.

      Note

      • Set Use Network Link Scan to On to enable HTTP communication.

    • Port Number Settings

      Set the corresponding protocol port number according to the port number for a PC, server, etc.

    • MTU Size

      Change the maximum packet size when the sent packet size causes decreases communication speed.

  • SNMP Settings

    Make settings for setting / monitoring / controlling the printer with SNMP management software.

  • Use IPP Everywhere

    Set whether to print directly from a Chromebook using IPP Everywhere.

  • Universal Print Settings

    Make settings for using Universal Print. Also, check the registration status of the printer.

  • Wait Time for Conn. at Startup

    Set the standby time from when the printer starts up until connection starts. If the printer is connected to a device such as a switching hub, connection to a network may not be possible even if the printer's settings are correct. In such an instance, set a connection standby time and connect again.

  • Ethernet Driver Settings

    Set the Ethernet communication method. You can also check the MAC address of a wired LAN.

    Important

    • If Communication Mode is set to Half Duplex, you cannot select 1000BASE-T.

  • Use IEEE 802.1X

    Set whether to use IEEE 802.1X. Set the IEEE 802.1X authentication method from a PC using the Remote UI.

  • Firewall Settings

    Set whether to enable an IP address filter/MAC address filter. Set the filter's default policy and exception addresses from a PC using the Remote UI.

  • Monitoring Service

    Check communication with a remote monitoring server, or make settings for a remote monitoring service. Activating this item causes printer information to be sent regularly to a remote monitoring server.

    • Communication Test

      Performs a communication test with the service center.

    • Communication Log

      Displays a list of error numbers (up to 5) and time the error occurs. Selecting an error number displays the error details.

      Main errors and countermeasures

      Error code Error detail Countermeasure
      0xxx0003 Communication test is not performed. Perform the communication test.
      8xxx0003 E-RDS switch is setting OFF. Enable monitoring service.
      8xxx2003 Network is not ready, try later. Check the network settings.
      8xxx200A Server connection error Check the network settings.
      8xxx2014 Proxy connection error Check the proxy server address etc.
      8xxx201E Proxy authentication error Check the user name and password to log in to the proxy server.
      8xxx2046 Server certificate expired The server certificate has expired.Set the correct date and time on the printer.
      8xxx2047 Server response time out Check the network settings. Check the proxy server address. Make sure that the correct date and time is set on the printer.
      8xxx2058 Unknown error Wait a while, and then try the communication test again.

    • Timing for Ink Level Notification

      Sets the timing for ink level notification to the local service center.

      Selecting Check Settings allows you to check the notification timing set for each color.

  • RMT-SW

    Normally, use this item as it is set to Off. A service technician may change it to On when performing maintenance remotely.

  • Initialize Network Settings

    Return network settings to their defaults at time of shipment.
