Wireless Direct Connection
This section describes wireless direct, which allows you to print by connecting the devices to the printer directly.
Important

Check the usage restrictions and switch the printer to the wireless direct.
- If a device has already been connected to the printer directly and you want to add a device to connect, connect it to the printer directly. You can connect up to 5 devices to the printer at the same time. The number of mobile devices that can be connected directly with initial settings is 1 device. If a fixed SSID and network key are set, up to 5 devices can be connected at the same time.
Enabling wireless Direct Connection

In the Home screen, select Menu.

Select Preferences.

Select Network.
Note-
If the Administrator Login screen appears, follow the displayed instructions and enter the ID and PIN.

Select Direct Connection Settings.

Set Use Direct Connection to On.

Configure any Direct Connection function settings as needed.
Note-
To disconnect automatically, checkmark Direct Connection Termination and enter the time from starting the Direct Connection until it disconnects. If several mobile devices are connected, the connection ends after the time elapses after the last connection started.

To change the IP address for connection, enter any IP address in Config. IP Address For Direct Conn..

To set a fixed SSID/network key, or to connect several mobile devices at the same time, in Access Point Mode Settings, set Use Custom SSID / Use Custom Network Key to On, then enter any SSID/network key in half-width alphanumerics. With the printer's initial settings, each time Direct Connection is used, the printer's SSID and network key are automatically generated in a random string.

To allow mobile devices to always be able to connect, set a fixed SSID and network key in Access Point Mode Settings, set Keep Enabled If SSID/Ntwk Key Spcfd to On.

Enabling this disables the Direct Connection Termination setting.

If this function is enabled, the printer cannot completely enter sleep mode.

Select Apply.

Restart the printer.
After the printer is restarted, the setting is enabled.
Connecting Smartphone/Tablet to Printer

Check that Use Direct Connection is set to On.

In the Home screen, select Mobile Portal.

In the Direct Connection tab, select Start.

Connect a smartphone or tablet.
To connect by configuring Wi-Fi settings manually
Check the printer's SSID and network key displayed on the screen, then in the Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone or tablet, select the printer's SSID and enter the network key.

To connect by scanning a QR code with the Canon PRINT app
In the Direct Connection tab, select QR Code, then start Canon PRINT on your smartphone or tablet and scan the displayed QR code.

If Connected. is displayed, select Close.
If Connection failed. is displayed, check the settings by following the displayed instructions.
