Dirt or black dots appear in copy/scan

If problems occur with copying, you need to identify whether the issue is with scanning or printing.

Scan the original, and if you see similar problems in the scanned image, see Scan-related troubleshooting. If there are no problems with the scanned image, see Print-related troubleshooting.

Scan-related troubleshooting

  1. Check 1 Is the original dirty?

Remove any dust, etc. on the original, then scan again.

  2. Check 2 Is the inside of the scanning unit dirty?

If there is dirt inside the scanning unit, dirt or black dots may appear in copy or scan results.

  3. Check 3 Is the setting value for Enhance Black too high?

Lowering the scan setting value for Enhance Black may improve the issue.

    Note

    • If the issue improves by adjusting the scan settings, the same problem may also occur when copying, so it is recommend to adjust the copy settings as well.
