Wireless Icon/LED Displayed on the Printer Indicates Connected State but Cannot Print

If Wi-Fi ON or Wi-Fi ON is indicated as the Wi-Fi icon or if the Wi-Fi LED is lit, the printer is already connected to the wireless router.

If Wi-Fi ON or Wi-Fi ON is indicated on the Wi-Fi icon, move the printer closer to the router or turn the printer off and on again.

If connected but cannot print, check the following steps.

  1. Step 1 Check the SSID.

Carefully check the SSID, and then connect to the correct SSID.

  2. Step 2 Turn the printer power off and then back on.

Reconnect to the wireless router of the SSID registered on the printer. Doing so may fix some problems automatically.

  3. Step 3 Check that the connection destination of the computer or smartphone and connection destination of the printer are the same.

There are also some wireless router models that isolate between 5 GHz (or 6 GHz) and 2.4 GHz. In this case, if a printer is connected to the wireless router with 2.4 GHz and a computer with 5 GHz or (or 6 GHz), printing from the computer to the printer will not be possible.

There is a way to solve the problem without changing the settings of the wireless router. This method involves checking the connection destination of the printer, and then setting the connection destination of the computer to the same connection destination as the printer. A computer memorizes multiple SSIDs and passwords. Sometimes just switching the SSID will enable printing. If an encryption key is required, enter the checked encryption key on the computer/smartphone/tablet.

  4. Step 4 Set Wi-Fi DRX settings of the printer to Disable.

Setting Wi-Fi DRX settings of the printer to Disable when there is a Wi-Fi connection from the printer to the wireless router may solve the problem. This solution is not for when the problem occurs after setup but for when it occurs suddenly such as first thing in the morning in normal use.

    1. Select (Setup) or Settings on HOME screen.

    2. Select Printer settings.

    3. Select LAN settings.

    4. Select Advanced.

    5. Select Wi-Fi DRX settings.

    6. Select Disable on the displayed screen.

  5. Step 5 Does the wireless router have the privacy separator or similar function turned on?

In particular, a wireless router will have this function turned on at initial setup. Be sure to turn it off.
