Clear Coating Print

Clear Coating is a function that adjusts glossiness by applying the Chroma Optimizer (CO) ink to the printed surface.

When Clear Coating is performed, surface irregularities due to pigment ink use will be evened and glossiness variation will be reduced. This prevents unnecessary light reflection, improving the intensity of the printed material.

Clear Coating can be set in Professional Print & Layout or the printer driver.

Note

  • This function is available on the printers that support the Chroma Optimizer (CO) ink.
  • This function is available when glossy paper is selected.
  • Clear Coating can be disabled depending on your printer. Disable it in cases such as when laminating the printed image.

  • Examples of Areas for Application

    Shaded area: The area to which the Chroma Optimizer (CO) ink is applied
    Original image When Overall is selected When Auto is selected and the ink is partially applied

Note

When Auto is selected, areas with and without the Chroma Optimizer (CO) ink applied will coexist in the image, which may cause awkwardness. In that case, it is recommended that you apply the Chroma Optimizer (CO) ink to the entire print area.
