Firmware update

The firmware is updated when new functionality to be added or an upgraded version is available.

Update the firmware via the Internet or via a PC, according to the printer's usage environment.

Important

  • Administrator privileges are required to update firmware.
  • Firmware cannot be updated in an IPv6 environment. Connect the printer and a PC using a USB connection, and update via the PC.

Updating firmware via the Internet

Use the operation panel when updating via the Internet.

Important

  • Before using this function, check that the printer is connected to the Internet.
  • Firmware cannot be updated from a PC using the Remote UI.
  1. Select Update Firmware in the Home screen.

    Access the Canon server, and check if a new update is available. If This is the latest firmware version. is displayed, the firmware does not need to be updated.

    If a login screen appears, enter the Administrator ID and Administrator PIN, and select Login.

  2. Select Accept in the licensing screen.

  3. Select OK.

    The firmware begins downloading. After downloading is completed, the firmware is updated.

    Important

    • Do not power off the printer until it has completed restarting.

Updating firmware via PC

Update firmware from a PC connected by wired LAN or USB to the printer.

Important

  • Firmware cannot be updated via PC with a Wi-Fi connection.

Important

  • When it is required to place the printer in update standby (download mode):

    Menu > Management Settings > Remote UI Settings/Update Firmware > Update Firmware > Via PC > Yes

    Use the operation panel to do this. Firmware cannot be updated from a PC using the Remote UI.
