Wi-Fi Encryption Types

WEP:

The oldest type of encryption. We do not recommend using it for security reasons. On GX Series printers, WEP can only be used on some older models.

WPA-Personal/WPA2-Personal:

If the encryption algorithm is WPA/WPA2, there are two types: TKIP and AES. TKIP is currently being phased out for security reasons. Also, if you set TKIP, you can only connect with 11b/11g/11a. If you connect with 11n/11ac for faster connection, select AES or set the wireless bandwidth to 40 MHz or above in the Wi-Fi router settings.

If Prohibit the Use of Weak Encryption is enabled in the security policy described below, if the encryption of the Wi-Fi router is set to WPA-TKIP, you cannot display or connect.

WPA3-Personal:

Encryption keys up to WPA2 are more secure the longer they are, but the effective speed is slower. WPA3 ensures high security regardless of the encryption key length.

IEEE802.1X/EAP (WPA/WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise)

This mode connects the user name and password registered with the Radius authentication server to the key, regardless of wired LAN or wireless.

With the exception of some older models, enabling IEEE802.1X/EAP will disable connection via Easy Wireless (Easy WL) Connect.

IEEE802.1X EAP is controlled exclusively for WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal and Wireless Direct mode. When IEEE802.1X EAP is enabled, WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal and Wireless Direct mode are disabled. Conversely, even if IEEE802.1X EAP is enabled, if you set WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal, the mode you set later will be enabled, and IEEE802.1X EAP will be disabled. If you want to enable IEEE802.1X EAP, turn on Restricted Mode or disable the setting in Standard User mode.
