Cause
Paper loaded in cassette 1 is jammed because paper output tray is closed.
What to Do
If the paper loaded in the cassette 1 is jammed because the paper output tray is closed, open the paper output tray then remove the paper by following these steps.
If you can see the jammed paper at the paper output slot:
If you cannot see the jammed paper at the paper output slot:
Note

If paper becomes jammed during printing and you need to turn off the machine to remove it, touch the Stop button to stop the printing before you turn off the machine.

If you can see the jammed paper at the paper output slot:
If you can see the jammed paper at the paper output slot, remove the paper by following these steps.

Slowly pull out paper.
Hold the paper with your hands and pull the paper out slowly not to tear it.

If you cannot pull out the paper, turn the machine back on. The paper may be ejected automatically.

If the paper tears and you cannot remove the jammed paper from the paper output slot, remove the paper from inside the machine.

Reload the paper and tap OK on the touch screen.
If you turned off the machine in step 1, the print data that was sent to the machine is erased. Redo the printing.

When reloading the paper, make sure you are using suitable paper and loading it correctly.

If you cannot see the jammed paper at the paper output slot:
If you cannot see the jammed paper at the paper output slot, remove the paper by following these steps.

Detach rear cover.
Pull out the rear cover.

Detach transport unit cover.
Lift up the transport unit cover and pull out it.

Slowly pull out paper.
Note

Do not touch the inner parts of the machine.

Attach transport unit cover.
Insert the transport unit cover to the back of the machine.

Attach rear cover.
Insert the rear cover to the back of the machine.
If you were not able to remove the paper in step 3:
-
Detach both cassette 1 and cassette 2.

Slowly pull out paper.

If paper protrudes from cassette, remove paper and reload it after aligning edges of sheets.

When reloading the paper, make sure you are using suitable paper and loading it correctly.

Attach cassettes to machine and tap OK on touch screen.

Do not close the paper output tray while the machine is in operation.
If the measures above do not solve the problem, contact your nearest Canon service center to request a repair.
