Supported operating systems, supported devices, and tested devices for Message in Print are as follows.

    iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone SE, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6

  • Message in Print has been tested on the following Android devices:

    Pixel 2 (Android 8.1), Pixel (Android 7.1), Nexus 6P (Android 8.1.0), Nexus 6 (Android 7.1.1, Android 6.0.1, Android 5.1.1), Nexus 5X (Android 8.1), Nexus 5 (Android 5.1.1, Android 5.1.0), Galaxy S8 (Android 7.0 (SC-02J))

Important

  • To print from Message in Print, your smartphone and printer must be connected over Wi-Fi.
  • If the smartphone is too close to or too far from the photo, information embedded in the photo cannot be scanned. Hold the smartphone straight, approximately 4 inches (10 cm) away from the photo.
  • Photos may not be scanned depending on your smartphone camera's status and the scanning environment. Scanning may also fail depending on the condition of the photo.
  • Even if using a tested device running a supported operating system, photos may not be scanned depending on your smartphone.
