Cause
Cannot communicate. Possible causes include the following.
- The printer is not connected to the network.
- You did not agree to the web services license agreement so the subscription service has not been activated.
- A subscription ink cartridge was installed when the subscription service contract was not active.
Important
- Subscription ink cartridges cannot be used without a valid subscription.
- If you have canceled your subscription please purchase ink from a retailer and do not use the Print Plan Subscription cartridge.
What to Do
Press the printer's Black button or Color button to cancel the error.
After printing, take action to enable the printer to communicate normally, following the instructions below.

Is the printer connected to the network?
Refer to the following page and connect the printer to the network (wireless router).

Have you agreed to the web services license agreement?
Print out the network settings and check the "Web Service Status" (registration status) setting.
If this is not "Registered" then you have to agree to send the information necessary for using the service in order to activate the subscription service.

Is your subscription service registration active?
Check the status of your subscription from the Canon homepage.
If it has been cancelled or is otherwise inactive and you wish to continue your contract, reactivate your subscription.
