Scanner Does Not Work

  1. Check 1 Check that your scanner or printer is turned on.
  2. Check 2 Check for any printer errors.

    For messages, see When Error Occurred.

  3. Check 3 With network connection, check the connection status and reconnect as needed.
  4. Check 4 With USB connection, connect the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.
  5. Check 5 If the USB cable is connected to a USB hub, remove it from the USB hub and connect it to a USB port on the computer.
  6. Check 6 Restart the computer.
  7. Check 7 To scan from the printer's operation panel with USB connection, click Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings in the Settings (General Settings) dialog, and then check that the following checkboxes are selected.

    • Your scanner or printer
    • Enables scanning from the operation panel

Note

  • If you are using macOS 15 or later, you must configure each application to allow device discovery on the local network. Failing to enable device discovery may restrict software functionality or prevent it from starting properly.
    For detailed instructions, refer to "Setting Up Local Network Device Discovery."
    The list of applications displayed under Local Network may include all or some of the following, depending on usage.
    • Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite
    • CIJSULAgent
