Default Administrator Password

Depending on the printer you are using, an administrator password is specified at the time of purchase.

If the default password is attached

The default password set is the password (PWD) attached to the printer.

If the default password is not attached

The default password set is "canon", printer's serial number, or random character string.

  • Model whose default password is specified as "canon":

    At the time of purchase, the user name "ADMIN" is also specified for the models below.

    • E460 series / E480 series

    • iB4000 series

    • MB2000 series / MB2300 series / MB5000 series / MB5300 series

    • MG2900 series / MG5600 series / MG6600 series / MG6700 series / MG7500 series

    • MX490 series

    • PRO-100S series / PRO-10S series

    Depending on your firmware version, the default password may be the random character string.

  • Model whose serial number is used as the default password:

    • For the models other than those whose default password is set to "canon", the serial number is set as the default password.

    • Model whose for iP110 series, the password may be "canon" depending on the firmware version.

    • Depending on your firmware version, the default password may be the random character string.

  • Model whose default password is set to the random character string:

    • If none of the above apply, the default password is set to the random string.

      In this case, the password will be set to a different random string each time it is reset.

    • To confirm the default password, refer to the Default Password line in the network setting information printed from Print LAN details or Print details.
