Check the wireless router functions

1. Check 1 Is the wireless router to which you want to establish a connection selected?

   Depending on the radio environment, other wireless routers in your neighborhood may also be detected.
   Check that the SSIDs set for the printer and the computer are the same.
   To check the network (SSID) of the printer, click [Network Information] to display the [Network Information] window, and see "(27) SSID."
   To check the network (SSID) of the computer, select [System Preferences] from the Apple menu, and then click [Network].

2. Check 2 Is the wireless router in stealth mode?

   If the stealth mode is on for the wireless router, temporarily disable this mode, and then execute the wireless router detection.
   The description for the stealth mode may vary depending on the wireless router you use.
   When using a USB interfaced printer, connect the printer and the computer with a USB cable.

3. Check 3 Is the wireless router in ANY denial mode?

   If the wireless router is set to deny the access using the SSID ANY, enter the information that matches the settings for the wireless router.
   The description for the SSID ANY denial mode may vary depending on the wireless router you use.

4. Check 4 Is encryption enabled on the wireless router to which you want to connect?

   This screen may appear if the communication between the printer and the wireless router fails due to encryption.
   To check whether encryption is enabled on the target wireless router, see the manual that comes with the wireless router.
   If encryption is enabled on the printer, check that "(29)Encryption ON" is set to YES and information is shown in the fields from (30) to (32).
   When using a USB interfaced printer, to change the printer information, connect the printer and the computer with a USB cable.

How to check the encryption settings

If WEP is set

Enter the same password (WEP key) as that for the wireless router in the [Network Password] field of the [Wireless Routers] screen. The key format and key length must match those of the wireless router.

If this screen appears again even after you have entered the password (WEP key) correctly, the setting for the Password (WEP) [Key ID] or [Authentication] may not match that of the wireless router. Click [Manual Setup], and then on the [Manual Setup] screen that appears next, enter the Network (SSID) of the wireless router, select [Use Password (WEP)] for [Encryption].
Enter the same password (WEP key) as that for the wireless router in the [password (WEP key)] field of the [WEP Details] screen, set [Key Length], [Key Format], [Key ID] and [Authentication] so that they all match those of the wireless router, and then click [OK].

If WPA/WPA2 is set

Enter the same PSK (Pre-Shared Key) or passphrase as that for the wireless router in the [Network Password] field of the [Wireless Routers] screen. The key format and key length must match those of wireless router.

If this screen appears again even after you have entered the Network password correctly, the setting for [Passphrase] may not match that of the wireless router. Click [Manual Setup], and then on the [Manual Setup] screen that appears next, enter the SSID of the wireless router, select [Use WPA] or [Use WPA/WPA2] for [Encryption], and then click [Configuration...].
In the [Passphrase and Dynamic Encryption Setup] screen that appears, enter the passphrase that is set for the wireless router in the [Passphrase] field.

If WPA Enterprise or WPA2 Enterprise is set for the wireless router, this printer cannot connect to the wireless router. Change the setting for the wireless router to Password (WEP) or WPA Personal/WPA2 Personal, and then restart the wireless router.
