[Canon IJ Network Tool] Screen

This list is displayed only when you setup from the CD-ROM that comes with the printer.

Note

  • The available functions may be different depending on the models and the connecting methods.
[Printers]
This screen displays a list of printers found in the network. Select the printer to be setup.
[Update]

Executes printer detection again. Click this item if the printer to be set up is not displayed in the list.

Note

  • Turn on the printer power. It may take a few minutes until the printer is recognized.
[Check the printer settings]
If the printer you want to use does not appear in the list even after you click [Update], select this check box and click [Next].
You can select whether to run another search of the printers on the network or to set up the network by using a USB connection.
Note that the [Check the printer settings] check box is not displayed for certain models.
[Cancel]
Cancels the selecting the printer.
Since the setup has not been completed, you must do the operation over again to use the printer in the network.
[Next]
Click this item after you select the printer to be setup.

[Check Printer Settings] Screen

This function is displayed if a network printer could not be detected.

You can select whether to run another search of the printers on the network or to set up the network by using a USB connection.

  • The available functions may be different depending on the models and the connecting methods.
[Wireless LAN Setup Information]

This information is displayed if the software was able to detect access point information stored on your computer.
A list of all combinations of the detected Access Points (SSID) and Network Password (Encryption Key) is displayed.

Note

  • You can refer to the displayed Access Point Name (SSID) and Network Password (Encryption Key), and set up the wireless LAN manually.
    For details, see the manual that comes with the printer.
[Set up the network connection via USB]
If you are using a USB cable to set up the network, set this item to ON.
[Back to Top]
If printer cannot be detected even when you click [Redetect], click this button to redo the setup.
[Redetect]
Click this item to redetect the printers on the network.
[Next]
Click this button to set up the network by using a USB cable.
[Cancel]
Cancels the setup.
Since the setup has not been completed, you must execute the setup again to use the printer.

Wireless/Wired LAN Setup

Users can select the LAN connection type for setup.

[Wireless LAN]
Select this item to use the printer with a wireless LAN.
Check that the access point is ready for use.
[Wired LAN]
Select this item to use the printer with a wired LAN.
Check that the printer is connected with a LAN cable.

[Detected Printers List] Screen

This list is displayed only when you setup from the CD-ROM that comes with the printer.

This screen displays a list of printers found in the network. Select the printer to be setup.

[Detected Printers]
You can check the model and MAC address of the printers.
[Set Up New Printer]
Click this to set up a new printer.
Follow the instructions in the displayed screens.
[Redetect]

Click this item to redetect the printers on the network.
