Settings

  • Category

    Specifies the paper category selected in [Media Type] in the printer driver.

  • Operation Panel

    Specifies the paper type selected in [Media type] on the operation panel.

  • Printer Driver

    Specifies the paper type selected in [Media Type] in the printer driver.

  • Type of Black Ink

    Specifies the type of black ink to be used.

    • BK: Black ink

      Achieve high gloss uniformity with glossy paper when printing items such as posters.

      Compatible paper:glossy paper,proofing paper

    • MBK: Matte black ink

      Achieve high density colors with matte paper.

      Compatible paper:coated paper, matte paper

    Note

    • Depending on the paper used, ink may peel off due to paper abrasion when printing with matte black ink.

      To prevent ink from peeling off due to paper abrasion, use the following setting.

      • From [Media Type] settings on the operation panel and the printer driver, select [Plain Paper (Instant-dry)] when using plain paper.
      • When using paper other than plain paper, use paper which has only "BK" as the specified ink type.
      • If there is no paper available with only "BK" as the specified ink type, use the Special Paper Settings.

        From [Media Type] settings on the operation panel and the printer driver, select an option between [Special 1] to [Special 5].

  • Factory Default

    Code Description
    PRESET The paper was registered to the printer at factory shipment.
    MCT The paper was not registered to the printer at factory shipment.Add the paper to the printer by using Media Configuration Tool.
  • Display Region

    With the factory default settings, the paper that is initially displayed depends on the printer destination.

    Also, when you select a region from Media Configuration Tool, the paper for that region is displayed.

    Refer to the following table for the relationships between destination code and region.

    Important

    • Depending on printer destination, some paper types are not initially displayed.

Paper

  • Product Name

    The product name of the paper.

  • Company Name

    The paper distributor.

    Note

    • Paper with "Canon" written in the "Company Name" field is Canon genuine paper.
    • Paper with a name other than "Canon" written in the "Company Name" field is Canon feed confirmed paper.

      Canon feed confirmed paper is paper that Canon has evaluated on the basis of fixed standards and confirmed feeding of the paper on this printer. However, Canon does not guarantee the product or the quality.

  • Destination

    Specifies the paper destination by using a code. Refer to the following table for the relationships between code and region.

    Important

    • This paper is not guaranteed to be sold in all regions of the target destination.
  • Basis Weight (typical value)

    This is the weight (g) of the paper per 1㎡.

  • Thickness (typical value)

    This is the thickness (mm) of the paper.

  • Roll Paper Size

    This is the name of the roll paper size.

  • Roll Paper Size (inch)

    This is the width (inch) of the roll paper.

  • Cut Sheet Size

    This is the name of the cut sheet size.

  • Cut Sheet Size (inch x inch)

    This is the cut sheet size (inch x inch).

Restrictions

  • Recommended Environment

    Specifies the temperature and humidity ranges where the paper can be used.

  • Number of Borderless Printing Sides

    Four-sided Borderless: Prints four borderless sides on the paper.

    Two-sided Borderless: Prints two borderless sides (left/right of transport direction) on the paper.

  • Borderless Printing

    Recommended: Suitable for borderless printing.

    Available: Can be used for borderless printing.

    Results may vary depending on printing conditions.

    Example: High humidity may cause paper to expand resulting in margins appearing or reduced print quality.

    Unavailable: Cannot be used for borderless printing.

  • Automatic Cutting

    Specifies the paper cutting method.

    Automatic Cut: Automatic Cut can be executed on paper labeled "Yes."The cutter blade automatically cuts the paper.

    Eject Cut: The cutter blade cuts the paper according to operations performed from the operation panel.

    User Cut: The cutter blade does not cut the paper.Use scissors or a similar instrument to cut the paper.

  • Roll paper auto feed

    Roll paper will feed automatically when loaded.

    For details refer to Paper-related settings.

    Important

    • Depending on the paper type and the printer usage conditions (such as paper width, temperature, and humidity), this function may be unavailable.
  • Automatically switch paper sources

    The printer can be set to automatically switch between roll paper 1 and roll paper 2.

    For details refer to How to Switch Paper Rolls.

    • Depending on the paper type and the printer usage conditions (such as paper width, temperature, and humidity), this function may be unavailable.
  • Paper scrolling (outward)

    Possible: You can scroll the paper in the outward direction.

    Not possible: You cannot scroll the paper in the outward direction.

  • Paper scrolling (inward)

    Possible: You can scroll the paper in the inward direction.

    Not possible: You cannot scroll the paper in the inward direction.

  • Leading Edge Cut Length (normal humidity)/Leading Edge Cut Length (low/high humidity)

    The leading edge length of the roll paper to be cut during paper loading or four-sided borderless printing.

    If a bar code is printed on the leading edge of the roll paper, the printer removes the bar code by cutting a length of 60 mm from the leading edge, even if leading edge cut length is less than 60 mm.
