QFailed to MP Drivers (Printer Driver) Installation (Windows)

If the MP Drivers (Printer Driver) were not installed correctly, make sure that all Windows Update have been applied. If all Windows Update have not been applied, apply all Windows Update.

After confirming Windows Update, perform the following operations to install the MP Drivers (Printer Driver).

  1. Check see if Windows protected print mode is enabled

    When using Windows 11, Windows protected print mode may be enabled due to security policy in your environment. Contact your system administrator or refer to "Using the printer with Windows protected print mode is enabled" below.

    • Using the printer with Windows protected print mode is enabled

      When the printer is connected via USB, the connection is made automatically when the computer and the printer are connected with the USB cable. The computer downloads the appropriate drivers and is ready to use. To connect a wireless printer, follow the steps below.

      1. Open Set Printers & scanners.
      2. Select Add Device.
      3. Wait for a nearby printer to appear, then select the printer you want to use and select Add Device.

        To remove the printer later, select the printer, then choose Remove.

      4. If the printer does not appear, see "Fix printer connection and printing problems in Windows" to resolve the problem in the Microsoft's home page.

      Note

      • When using the printer with Windows protected print mode enabled, the printer functions are limited because the standard printer driver of the OS is used. To use full advantage of the printer functions, disable Windows protected print mode and use the MP Drivers (Printer Driver).

    • Disable Windows protected print mode

      Follow the procedure on the following page to disable Windows protected print mode before installing the MP Drivers (Printer Driver).

  2. Open screen to uninstall MP Drivers (Printer Driver).

    For Windows 11:

    Open Installed apps.

    For Windows 10:

    Open Apps & features.

    For Windows 8.1 / Windows 7:

    Select Control Panel > Programs and Features.

  3. Check if there is "Canon XXX series Driver" you want to install in list.

    "XXX" is the printer's model name.

  4. If you find MP Drivers (Printer Driver) for printer you want to install, uninstall it.

    If not found, proceed to the next step.

  5. Restart computer.

    After restarting, install the latest MP Drivers (Printer Driver).

    • For Windows:

      To restart your computer, choose Restart instead of Shut down.
