Cleaning Platen and Document Cover

Important

  • Be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power cord before cleaning the printer.

  • Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, rough-textured cloth, or similar materials for cleaning so as not to scratch the surface. Paper tissue powder or fine threads may remain inside the printer and cause problems such as print head blockage and poor printing results.

  • Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzine, acetone, or any other chemical cleaner to clean the printer, as this may cause a malfunction or damage the surface of the printer.

Use a soft, dry cloth that is clean and lint-free.

Wipe away any smudges or dust on the glass surfaces of the platen glass (A and B), and on the parts that come into contact with these surfaces (C and D).

Wipe the glass surfaces carefully, leaving no residue.

Important

  • The inner side of the document cover (C) is easily damaged, so wipe it gently.

  • Any glue, ink, correction fluid, or other substances on the glass surface (B) may cause black streaks in scanned images. Gently wipe away any of these substances on the glass.
