Cause

The maintenance cartridge is not installed.

What to Do

The action you should take to resume operating the printer depends upon which function you intend to use.

1. To PRINT or COPY

If you intend to PRINT or COPY, you should install the maintenance cartridge.

Refer to Replacing the Maintenance Cartridge for instructions on installing the maintenance cartridge.

2. To SCAN

If you intend to SCAN, you should take one of the following steps:

• - Press the Stop button on the printer. You will then be able to SCAN.

• OR

• - SCAN from an external device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet using the corresponding application software.

• OR

• - Install the maintenance cartridge. You will then be able to SCAN.
