Cause

Color printing was specified, but an optional FINE cartridge is not installed.

What to Do

To print in color, an optional FINE cartridge is required.

After installing the FINE cartridge in the left part of the print head holder, close the scanning unit / cover to cancel the error. Then, the printer resumes printing.

If you do not print in color, press the printer's Stop button to stop the printing.

If you are printing from a computer, open the printer driver's setup screen, check the Grayscale Printing check box on the Main sheet, and then print again.

• In some application software, color printing may be performed irrespective of the setting of the printer driver. If this error occurs even if you check the Grayscale Printing check box on the Main sheet, click the Print Options button on the Page Setup sheet, and select Black Only at Print With.

• When printing from a smartphone or cloud service, you can set color prints to print in monochrome automatically. After pressing the printer's Setup button, select Device settings, Print settings, and then enable Auto-switch to B&W. (This setting does not affect printing from the printer driver.)
